First AID

This is the protocol for first aid to give initial care for an illness or injury.

The first thing that we have to do is take care and check for danger to ourselves, others and the patient.

Secondly we have to check for response talk, and if the patient response, we have to ask name and touch; is good for the patient know and sense that is not alone.

The next step is call to 112 or ask another person to make the call.

If the patient suffers respiratory arrest, we must follow the instructions below:

Firstly we have to clear the airways opening the patient's mouth, and clear the airway with fingers. Then, we open airway by tilting head with chin lifted.

In the second place, we have to look, listen and feel for breathing. If not breathing normally, we have to start CPR.

CPR consists in perform 30 compressions followed by 2 breaths, and repeat until the patient recovers breathing and heart rate.

Finally, if the patient does not respond, we have to do the defibrillation, and appy automatic external defibrillator (AED) if available and follow its indications.
